Baby Shower Trivia Questions Game Ideas

Trivia Question Games are a favorite in every parties, and it works well with any type of people. Thus, it really works for baby showers too. They are challenging, fun to play and provides opportunity to mingle.

These games are so much like the guessing games that I have shared in the previous post. The trivia questions can revolve around the parents or baby theme.

Here are some interesting ideas for your trivia question games.

  1.   Nursery Rhymes

Lets travel back to our childhood with this fun trivia game. Whether you are a parent or not, we’ve all been kids too and we’ve been around kids at some point in our lives. So, who hasn’t heard of nursery rhymes?

The trivia questions for this game revolves around favorite or popular nursery rhymes.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– paper and pens
– computer
– printer or photocopier

HOW TO DO IT:

Type a snippet or some lines from nursery rhymes or some famous lullabies/baby songs. Leave some parts of the lines or the end, blank.

Print out copies enough for your guests, and a couple of extra for reserve. Print out a master copy as well, with the complete version that you will use for checking or better yet, have recorded audio copy of the nursery rhymes or lullabies that you can play when checking their responses.

This game can be played in pairs or in small groups. During the game, distribute the worksheets and pens. Ask your guests to fill-in the blanks with the missing lyrics – words or phrases to complete the line. Set the timer to five minutes, depending on the number of items in your worksheet. The pair or group who gets the most correct wins.

  2.   Name that Tune

This is so easy to prepare and put together. Your trivia questions will revolve around baby songs. It is fun and challenging, and brings out the musical side of your guests.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– playlists of baby songs or lullabies

HOW TO DO IT:

Create a playlist of baby songs. You can actually download from streaming sites. Cut a snippet of the baby songs (10 to 15 seconds), and have a master list for the titles.

Divide your guest into 3-4 groups, depending on the number of guests you have. During the game, gather around the groups. Assign post for each group, and a leader for each group who will raise their hand after the que.

You will play the snippet of a baby song twice. Then, you will give them 10 seconds to think of the title. When you say, GO!, the leaders of each group will raise their hand. The first to raise will have the chance to guess the title first. If the guess is wrong, you will say GO! again and the remaining groups will get the chance.

If the group shouts out their guess before their leader could raise his/her hand, they will loose their turn. The group who makes the most correct guesses wins.

  3.   Mom or Dad

This one revolves around the mommy or daddy or both. It is really fun because it will show if the guests knows the mommy or daddy so well.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– list of trivia questions about the mommy and daddy
– marker
– metacards

HOW TO DO IT:

Before the baby shower, you will need a bit of preparation with the help of the parents-to-be. Make a list of trivia questions about the parents-to-be. Make sure to write the response opposite each question for checking.

The trivia questions will be about the parents-to-be’s childhood, teenage years, student life, present life. The questions can refer to the parents invidually or together.

Make sure to mix up questions from different stages of the parents-to-be’s lives and have atleast equal number of questions for each stage and for both mom and dad or together to give your guests chance to answer. Some guests may know more about the mom than the dad or the other way around. Also, they might know the parents-to-be from different stages of their lives.

Examples of trivia questions:

– what is mom or dad’s favorite movie/color/food?
– what year did they meet?
– what is their wedding date?
– what year was mom or dad born?
– what is mom or dad’s childhood pet?
– what is the name of the elementary school mom or dad went to?

Divide your guests into groups of four or five. During the game, the groups will all stand around like in a quiz bowl with you at the center as the quiz master. Read aloud the trivia questions twice. Then, give them 15 seconds to discuss within their group and to write down their answer on the metacard. When you say Go! The group will hold up their answer written on the metacard. The parents-to-be will take note of the group who gets the correct guess. The group will get 1 point for each correct response. The group who gets the most points wins.

These are just few trivia game ideas, I will post more later. There are many other trivia games you can actually come up with. What is great about these games is that they work really well whether your baby shower guests are co-ed or family. Make sure that you don’t play them individually to make it more fun and challenging, and to give your guests opportunity to mingle and get acquainted while having fun.

And like I always say in the previous posts – make sure that in any part of the shower party, you – as the host must enjoy yourself too.

Baby Shower Word Game Ideas

Word games is a favorite and always works well in any form of parties. It is a great way to break the ice among people who are not acquainted with one another and provides opportunity to have rounds of laughter. Thus, word games also works well in baby showers, and it really works with any type of guest.

Word games involve thinking and are challenging to play, that is why it is exciting especially for people who are competitive. These games are also easy to put together and organize. Here are some ideas you can work around with.

  1.   Blocks

This game combines word and letter games, plus crafts. It is not only a fun and challenging game, but also results in gifts for the parents-to-be

WHAT YOU NEED:

– blank wooden blocks
– permanent markers
–  wood paint (diffetent colors)

HOW TO DO IT:

You will need a little bit of preparation before the baby shower or it could be a part of your activity that you can do with some of your guests during the baby shower, but before you play the games.

Using the permanent marker, write alphabet letter on one side of each wooden block. Make  sure you have 26 wooden blocks for letters A to Z, and a couple of extra blocks incase you need to replace some.

During the game, give each guest a block or two, depends on the number of guests you have. Ask them to decorate the blocks using the wooden paint, with pictures that can be associated with the alphabet letter written in the block.

This game does not only allow your guest to bring out their creative and artistic side, but also provide opportunity for them to create a keepsake for the parents-to-be.

  2.   Unscramble

This game is a classic word game, but it never gets old in any parties. For baby shower though, use words that are baby-related.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– scrambled words (1 for each guest)
– pens and paper
– timer

HOW TO DO IT:

List down 20 (or more) five letters and more baby-related words or words that can be associated with babies (pacifier, stroller, cradle, etc.). Then list these words again, with the letters scrambled or mixed up.

Example:

– CFIPERA (PACIFIER)
– DRACEL (CRADLE)

You can play this game by group or by pairs. During the game, hand out copies of the scrambled word list. Set the timer to five minutes, depending on the number of words you have, you can adjust the timer. Ask the pairs or groups to unscramble the words. They will write the unscrambled words opposite each scrambled word.

The parents-to-be can read aloud the correct or unscrambled words. The pair or group who have the most correct response wins.

  3.   Name Maker

This is another fun game to play. I guess many are familiar with guessing games, but there is a twist with this one. And the good thing about this game is that it will give the parents-to-be an idea or inspiration for the baby’s name. Plus, this game is so easy to prepare.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– pens and paper
– timer

HOW TO DO IT:

Post the parents-to-be’s complete name on the wall, their first names and last names. Distribute pens and papers to your guests. They can work in pairs or small groups. Their task is to create a name for the newborn baby using only the letters of the parents-to-be’s names. Set the timer to 3 – 5 minutes.

Afterwards, they will read aloud the names they came up with some explanation why they came up with the name(s). This is really fun, especially when you get really unique names.

Animal Baby Shower Game Ideas

Who does not love cute animals? A lot of us have pets and are animal lovers. Animals go well with baby showers and make a real adorable baby shower theme.

If you are planning on what games to have for your baby shower, you might want to consider these games. Here are two of the favorite animal baby shower game ideas for your baby shower.

  1.   Animal Names

This game is so fun to play and put your guests’ memory to a test. It combines parenthood and adorably cute and cuddly baby animals. Plus, it is quite easy to put together.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– master list of baby animals
– answer key (with baby names for each animal)
– pens and paper for each guest

HOW TO DO IT:

For this game, you need to have a bit of research and preparation. Make a list of 20 or so animals. This game can be played individually. Best to play it by pairs or in groups. During the game, distribute paper and pens. Set the timer to 2-3 minutes. Distribute master list of animals. Ask you guests to write down opposite each animal the name of the animal’s baby.

Examples:
– Alligator (baby is called “hatchling”)
– Dolphin (baby is called “calf”)
– Swan (baby is called “cygnet”)

It’s like a quiz, after the game ask the guest to exchange papers or they can check their own work. Ask the parents-to-be to read aloud the correct word or baby name for each of the animal. The guest, pair or group who have the most correct answer wins.

  2.   Ducky-Duck

This is not just a fun game to play but will leave the parents-to-be with lots of gifts. And it is so easy to prepare.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– toy duck for each guest
– baby tub

HOW TO DO IT:

This game can be played individually, by pairs or by group. If you plan to play the game by group, divide your guest into groups of four or five.

Fill the baby tub with water and then put the toy ducks in the baby tub. Before putting the toy ducks in the tub, put an indicative marking at the bottom of each duck.

Ask the guests or representative from the group to pick a toy duck from the tub, one player at a time. Those who get to pick the special toy ducks will win a door prize. After the baby shower, ask the guest to donate the special ducks to the parents-to-be.

There are many other animal games you can do. In my previuos posts, I have listed other game ideas you can choose from or use as inspiration. You can mix different types of game, all of these work well for all types of guest.  In any of the games you plan to have, make sure to have fun yourself.

Baby Shower DIAPER Game Ideas

There are  lot of diaper-related games for baby shower. I have included some of them in the previous posts. Perhaps, the reason why diaper games are such a hit is  because they are always so fun to play.

Here are more diaper game ideas that you can use for your baby shower. They are very easy to organize and like I said, so much fun to play. Plus, they always work best with any type of guests.

  1.   Dirty Diaper

This is a hilarious game that will surely get you and your guests crackling. Maybe the word “dirty” get you thinking if you will be using actual dirty diapers, don’t worry because you’re not going to. But, this is sure fun.

WHAT YOU NEED:
– chocolate bars (use variety)
– packs of newborn diapers
– pens
– papers

HOW TO DO IT:

Before the baby shower or before your guests arrive, you need do some preparation. Heat each kind of chocolate bar in the microwave. Once melted, smear the melted chocolate unto the diaper. Then, heat another kind of chocolate bar and do the same. Now, keep track which chocolate bar goes on which diaper by numbering each diaper.

During the game, bring out the prepared diapers and gather your guest around. They can work indivudually or in pairs. Provide each with paper and pen. Then ask them to do a sniff test of the diaper and guess which chocolate bar is smeared on the diaper.

Write down your guesses on the provided paper. The guest or pair who makes the most correct guesses wins. Then, award the winner or winners  with chocolate bars. Better yet, after the game, give out the chocolate bars that you used for the game, and see if they’re going to eat them.

  2.   What’s in the Diaper?

This is another hilarious diaper game that will surely give you and your guest another round of laughter. Some people who have not played any diaper baby shower game, might want to avoid playing because they thought of the dirty stuff that might be coming with it. But, like the first game, you have nothing to worry about dirty stuff.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– different small baby items (baby socks, pacifiers, baby bottles, and the likes…)
– packs of disposable newborn baby diapers
– tape
– marker

HOW TO DO IT:

Before the baby shower, gather different small baby items. You can also ask your guest to bring some small baby items as gifts. You can do the preparation yourself before the shower, if you already have enough items. Or, you can also do this as part of pre-game activity along with the guests.

Tape a disposable diaper around one small baby item. Keep track of the baby item wrapped  inside of the baby diaper. Number each diaper and write tthe item on your master list. Make sure you don’t show it to them.

Gather your guest around and give them paper and pens. Ask them to guess what is inside the diaper by feeling it. They will write their guesses on the piece of paper. The guest who gets the most correct guesses wins.

  3.   Diaper Stack

You might be familiar with stacking game. If you love that game, then you will surely enjoy this diaper version of stacking.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– piles of newborn baby diapers (for each group)

HOW TO DO IT:

Divide your guests into groups of four or five, depending on how many guests you have. The idea is to divide them equally. Provide each group with equal number of diapers.

Each group will line behind their assigned table. Set the table not too far away from the group. Each member of the group will take turns in putting one diaper on top of the other or others. One diaper and one player at a time.

The game will end when a group’s stack of diapers fall over or until only one group remains where their stack of diapers does not fall over. It may also be based on the number of diapers stacked before one group’s stack falls over or whoever has the most diapers used before their stacks fell, wins.

  4.   Diaper Raffle

This one is really great because its a win-win they say for both the guests and the mom-to-be or the parents-to-be.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– raffle tickets
– prizes ( for each draw)

HOW TO DO IT:

When you send out invites to your guests, ask them to bring a pack of baby diaper. Inform them that for each pack they get one raffle ticket. This raffle tickets will be drawn and that there will be fun prizes. So, the more packs of diapers, the more raffle tickets, and the more chances of winning.

You can arrange small gifts for the prizes. At the end of the game, the parents-to-be will also be happy to have packs of diapers. That”s a lot of help, I swear they’ll love it.

Co-ed Baby Shower Game Ideas

Baby Shower Games always work well with any type of guest, it is the perfect icebreaker to get the fun going for people who are not familiar with each other.

There are plenty of baby shower game ideas to choose from. In my previous posts, I have compiled some icebreaker, active, competitive, funny, and crafty baby shower game ideas.  But, if you are specifically looking for challenging and exciting Co-ed baby shower games, here are some ideas that works well with both men and women.

  1.   Memory Game

This is a fun and challenging game that will put your guests’ memory to a test. If you already know the gender of the baby, then you can use baby items that are specific to the baby’s gender. But, you need not know the baby’s gender to play this game. You can always use unisex baby items instead.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– basket or tray
– baby-related items (the more the better)
– paper and pen for each guest

HOW TO DO IT:

Fill your basket with small baby-related items before the baby shower. You can also asks your guests to bring some baby items as small gifts, like pacifiers or pair of newborn socks, and other small and affordable items. Collect these items into the basket as they come.

These items can be specific to the baby’s gender, if you already know the baby’s gender or they can be unisex baby items.

During the baby shower, ask the mom-to-be or better yet, the parents -to-be to pass around the bastket or tray filled with baby items. Each guest can have a quick viewing of what’s inside the basket or tray. After everyone had their quick viewing, hide the basket away from the guests and distribute pen and paper. Set your timer to 2-3 minutes, ask the guest to write down as many baby items they can remember. The guest or guests who can recall the most, wins.

  2.   Pin the Poop

This is a hilarious version of the classic favorite “pin the diaper” baby shower game.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– large piece of paper (manila paper)
– permanent marker
– scissors
– double sided tape
– brown paper or colored paper (pre-cut into poop emojis or shapes)
– fabric or scarves to be used as blindfolds

HOW TO DO IT:

You can prepare the materials before the baby shower, or it can be part of your activity during the baby shower where everyone or some of the guests could help.

On the large paper, draw an outline of diaper using the permanent marker, and then stick it to a wall. On the brown paper or colored paper, draw poop emojis (for added fun) or poop shapes, cut them out and place double sided tape at the back of each poop.

Players could play one or two at a time. This can also be played invidually or in pairs. Hand each player a poop, put on their blindfolds, spin them a little and ask them to pin the poop on the diaper.

  3.   Over or Under

This game is new, but is fast becoming a hit and favorite game in baby showers. It is fun and challenging, it puts your guests to a test as to how much they know or can remember about pregnancy, about parenthood, and about the parents-to-be.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– list of faux numerical facts
– pens or pencils
– timer (you can use mobile phones)

HOW TO DO IT:

This might need a bit of preparation, but it is worth it. Before the baby shower, list down “incorrect” numerical facts about pregnancy, parenthood or the parents-to-be. Leave a blank line after each incorrect fact.

Here are some samples:

  a.    The parents-to-be have know each other for 3 years and 6 months before they got married. _______

  b.    An average baby weighs 7 pounds and 3 ounces at birth. ______

Distribute the list and pens or pencils to each guest. They can work individually, but better in pairs. Instruct them to write the words “over or under” on the blank line after each fact. If they think the numerical number is lower than the correct then, they will write the word “under.”

Set the timer to 8 or 10 minutes. Depending on the number of list they will work on. After the game, ask the parents-to-be to reveal the correct answer for each fact in the list. The pair or player who gets the most correct answer wins.

  4.   Pass the Gift

This is a classic that you may have played in other parties, not only in baby showers. What makes it special is the giving of small tokens to your guests, I mean who doesn’t love gifts. Another great thing about this game is that it is so easy to organize.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– music player (use upbeat or nursery rhymes)
– wrapped gift (one per round)

HOW TO DO IT:

Before the baby shower, wrap a couple of simple gift items. You can use one per round, if you plan to have several round of the game or use multiple gifts, if you want to have single round.

Gather your guest in a circle, everyone should be standing. Play a music, you can play upbeat or nursery rhymes would be cute. As the music is playing, ask them to pass around the gift or gifts, when the music stops the person holding the guest is out.

Then, there will be a twist in the end – whoever holds the gift or gifts when the music stops will get to keep it.

These are just some of the Co-ed Baby Shower Game ideas you can use for your baby shower, or refer to for inspiration as you design your own. There is no right or wrong game, any game is always fun. You need not use costly items for the game, it would often be great to ask some of your guest to help. They will be glad to lend a hand. Always remember though, to have fun yourself.
