A baby is a blessing, and therefore must be celebrated. Mom-to-be, especially first time moms, cannot describe the experience, the joy and excitement, but also the worry of not knowing what to expect or what’s to come. All the more reason, to celebrate and make her feel special and loved.

Cute and adorable.decorations, delicious food, and the super fun games, plus overflowing presents are some of the baby shower must-haves that will make any mom-to-be feel special and have all the love and support they need.

If you are the host of the baby shower and you are either with the mom-to-be or also far away and you have guest list who are spread across the globe, you can organize for a virtual baby shower.

  2.   Pick a theme that is gender neutral or gender fit, from barbies to mickey mouse or disney inspired. It’s the theme that creates the fun .
  3.   Work on the Backdrop. This needs a little of creativity, and you can also ask the mom-to-be to decorate her space that reflects the showrer theme, while you create the virtual backdrop.
  4.   Pick a platform and add background. There are so many virtual conference platforms to choose from. Top of the list is ZOOM, and you can easily play around with the background using the platform or other applications.
  5.   Cake is a must-have. Whether in-person or virtual baby shower, baby showers always need a lovely cake for the mom-to-be.
  6.   Treats. It ain’t a party if guests don’t get to enjoy some party treats. You can ask guests to make their own cupcakes or cookies, and share their baking skills.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR BABY SHOWER

Whatever event or party you are attending, wether it is a formal event or birthday party or a wedding or just a picnic party, finding the right outfit to wear can be tough.

It is hard to explain why, but there are parties like baby showers where you can’t seem to find the right outfit. You are caught in this old dilemma, “how fancy should I look?” Although you know that attending baby shower you have to look cute but very well put together, but you also know that you should not look like you are attending a formal dinner or a wedding for that matter.

You don’t want to be overdressed or dressed as if you are in a wrong event. Ofcourse, you don’t want that, so here are some outfit ideas for baby shower that you can use or probably put a twist on:

MIDI DRESSES

Flowy dressss like midi dress is a really great casual style that is easy breezy. Especially the ones with simple patterns like floral design or mini polka dots or abstract design, and basic colors or pastel. With midi dresses with these patterns and colors, you can wear any shoe and bag. But it would be best if you wear open wedge shoes or a simple white casual sneakers or plump shoes to achieve that chic and comfy look. This outfit works well whether indoor or outdoor parties and whatever time of the day.

JUMPSUIT OR OVERALL

Jumpsuits are chic but simple and super easy to style. A simple jumpsuit is perfect for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, and including baby showers. Choose basic colors or simple patterns like floral prints and you will look a little edge but super comfy. Just add a little bit jewelry and put on some wedge shoes or high heels, and you’ll definitely look it.

BLOUSE AND JEANS OR PANTS

Nothing beats a soft flowy or cottony polo shirt or blouse over a trendy pair of jeans. You can wear them with heels or wedge or sneakers and plump shoes. Opt for a neutral tone for pants or jeans and pastel colored blouse or polo shirt. You will definitely look and feel comfortable all party long, whether participating with games or just sitting and watching the festivities.

SKIRTS

Mini or pencil skirts paired with pastel colored or patterned blouses will give you that flare and chic look. Wear them with simple heels or wedge shoes and you’re ready for any shower party, not just baby showers.

You can also opt for a leather high waist skirt. You might think it odd to wear leather for baby shower, but leather skirts are cool and chic when paired with soft silky blouse. Leather will give you that unique look, but also feel comfy and confident. You can wear them with simple heels or wedge shoes.

BLAZERS OR JACKET

You can never go wrong with blazer or jacket. You can wear them over dresses or skirts and pants. Blazers are super chic and easy to mix and match with anything. Jackets too like cargo or crop or corporate are super cool and works well with everything. If you want to look extra trendy, you can go full monochrome like wearing blazer with matching pants or shorts or mini skirt.

Finally, I these ideas won’t limit your choices. These are just ideas that you can wear for a baby shower, but there are certainly other style and looks that works for baby shower. You don’t really have to worry much about being overdressed or something, just remember that the look you are trying to achieve is something that is chic, but simple and comfy. Just wear what makes you comfortable and you will never go wrong.

ZOOM Baby Shower

Often times it’s hard to gather our loved ones together, even on special days or events like baby shower. Most of our family and friends are spread-out in different cities and countries that it is  really impossible to have everyone around anytime. It’s a miracle if you could, because there’s always one or two who can’t make it due to work, distance and mostly because of travel cost.

But with the technology these days, the impossible may seem possible. There are various meeting or gathering space platforms online. Although not in-person, but closer because you can see each other via live online video.

One of the most popular online space platforms is “ZOOM.” It is a commonplace now for all sorts of gatherings: for work or school or business, and  for parties including baby shower.

ZOOM baby shower has been a thing nowadays, it is affordable and practical for both the host, and the guests especially. It is also easy to prapare and plan, and it is inclusive because you can include all the mom-to-be or parents-to-be’s loved ones wherever they are in this world. And it can easily be combined with an in-person guests.

Now, if you are worried whether everyone you wish to invite are familiar with the platform, well guess what? Ofcourse they know how to use ZOOM. If there is anything good brought about by the pandemic, it kind of forced almost everyone to know how to use online space platforms. Almost everyone has experienced using ZOOM, wether for work or school or business or personal or for fun and for gatherings.

Most likely that your guests have already used ZOOM. And it has become the most opt-used video conferencing platform because of its friendly usability. You can host or invite up to 49 members in a video chat at one time, and you can use the platform for free for up to 40 minutes and you can easily another meeting for another 40 minutes of free use. But even if you have to pay for subscriotion, it doesn’t really cost much.

ZOOM baby shower could really save you serious cash. You don’t need to rent for a venue, no need to spend on decorations because ZOOM has many backdrop or background feautures, plus there also many apps online you can use for this. There is also no need to spend on food, which takes up almost 50? of the expenses for any party for that matter. If you have to prepare food, atleast only for the celebrant, and if you have some in-person guests. All your ZOOM guests can each prepare their own food and they’ll be more than glad to do that, no need to tell I suppose.

And because you have saved so much on the supposed expenses, you can put a bit of extra for the games and activities, perhaps some giveaways and prizes for added fun. And above all, you and the guests could make use of the supposed expenses to help out the mom-to-be or parents-to-be prepare all the essentials needed for childbirth and after childbirth.

Finally, if you’re wondering what can the guests do on an online gathering? Well, they can do a lot of activities. In my previous posts I have shared games and activities for an online baby shower. You can explore them or use the ideas for inspiration as you plan for your own activities. In fact, almost all of the in-person activities can easily be modified for online. It is even better online because of the many online feautures you can use like backdrops and backgrounds, sound effects, and all those animated stuff you can play around to help make your activities more fun and lively.

There really is not much of a difference whether you have online or in-person baby shower. Online is even preferred these days because of its practicality, and it’s become so easy to use. So if you are planning for a baby shower and you are having a tough time with guest list coming from different parts of the world, arranging your guests available time just so everyone could come, why not opt for ZOOM baby shower? Im pretty sure the mom-to-be will appreciate it, knowing that having the shower online  would allow everyone to join, wherever they are.  Plus, your guests will be more than glad.

WHAT TO REMEMBER WHEN THROWING A BUDGET-FRIENDLY BABY SHOWER

Baby showers like any other party need not have to be grandious or too expensive to make them memorable and special. Once planned well, you can actually come up with one that’s budget-friendly, but still look and feel like you spared no expense.

When planning for a budget-friendly baby shower or any party for that matter, you have to remember that guests really doesn’t care about how much you have spent for the party. Noone cares and noone will know the details of the expenses unless you tell them. What matters are the memories created and that everyone have fun. Here are essential tips for a baby hower that will help cut down on the budget.

GUESTS
First and foremost is the guest list. It is often best to have a smaller group, because then you know that guests are the ones closest to the mom-to-be or the parents-to-be. Smaller group also makes the occasion feel more intimate, and therefore every moment feels more heartfelt and memorable.

Small group also is a lot easier to manage. You need not rent a place because you can easily fit everyone at home: in the living room or garden perhaps. And because you are already having the shower at home, means no need for fancy decor to make the venue feel cozy. Fewer guests also mean less food, so you can even opt for fancy meals and not worry on your budget

And because the guests are closest to the expecting mom or parents, mean that you need not worry so much about invitations. You can comfortably opt to use digital invitation. In addition, these guests would be more than glad to extend their support by helping out with the shower’s expenses: they will surely offer to help with the food or the decorations, among others.

TIME and FOOD
If and when you can’t avoid to have big number of guests, then choose the perfect time where you can save on the food. Speaking of food, you can’t have a party without it, and it takes up almost half of the expenses. That is why picking the right time when to have the party is very significant, because time will dictate the kinds of food you need to serve.

If you hold the party around lunch or dinner time, then guests will expect to be served with meals, and that is quite expensive. Rather choose a time where guests have already taken their lunch or dinner. During this time it is fine to serve snacks instead of meals.

When serving snacks, choose finger foods because they are cheaper, easier to prepare, and you can easily make a lot of servings in a short time. Finger foods also can serve as decorations, you can be creative with the food presentations and all.

VIRTUAL OR HYBRID
Everything these days has become digital, so why not your baby shower? You can choose to combine an in-person and virtual guests or go all the way virtual. Either will save you a lot on the budget for the venue and especially on the food. And also saves  a lot of budget on the part of the guests, especially those who needed to travel far just to join an in-person shower.

Finally, the idea really for a budget-friendly baby shower is to “keep in small and simple.” Often, simple things makes the best moments and memories.
