Making crafts is a great activity or game for a baby shower. Not only is it fun to play, but at the end of the game, you get to create something cute and useful for the new baby.
Although crafty baby shower games may require a bit of preparation (especially on you as the host), and may need more materials to use, they are most definitely worth it.
Crafty games work great for all types of guests. It is also a great way to break the ice and to have an absolutely fun and memorable party. Here are some ideas for you. You may pick one or use them as inspiration for coming up with your own.
1. Baby Quilt
Well, quilts or blankets are always a great keepsake. I mean, who doesn’t love them, colorful and very useful especially for newborn babies, and moms too.
Making baby quilts during a baby shower will give everyone the opportunity to work together while having chat. It also brings out everyone’s artistry and creativity.
WHAT YOU NEED:
– light-colored fabric (pre-cut squares and preferrably pastel shade)
– non-toxic fabric markers or fabric paints
HOW TO DO IT:
This game is best played in small groups or by pair. Give each group or pair squares (pre-cut fabric) for them to design using the fabric markers or paint. after having design their squares, ask the group to arrange their squares into a quilt pattern. Make sure to have extra squares ready, best to use patterned or contrasting plain-colored fabrics.
You may also send fabrics (pre-cut squares) to individual guests in advance. Ask them to decorate the squares and bring them at the party. You can send along the squares with the invitation. And then, during the party, in groups or pairs, request them to arrange their already designed squares into a quilt pattern.
It would be fun to arrange some tokens for the group with the best design. Ofcourse, since your special guests are the parents-to-be, they can do the honor of judging and picking the winner.
After the party though, you can assemble the quilts of each group’s yourself or send them to a quilt expert to put them together. Once finished, they can form part of the baby’s gifts.
2. Diaper Notes
This particular crafty game is a favorite baby shower game. It is really fun to play. I think any diaper game is always a hit for baby showers.
WHAT YOU NEED:
– large box of newborn diapers
– different colored permanent markers
– personalized baby diaper boxes
HOW TO DO IT:
Gather the guests in a circle and give each one a baby diaper. Put out the different colored markers and place them in the middle. Ask the group to write funny or inspiring quotes, baby jokes or encouraging words, and anything creative at the back of the baby diaper using the markers. They can use one colored marker or different colored markers in writing. Guests can choose to work on more than one baby diaper, if they want to.
Then, collect all the diapers and put them inside a personalized baby diaper box and hand them as gifts to the parents-to-be. These diapers will serve as inspiration to them during late-night diaper change.
3. Art for the Nursery
This is another crafty baby shower game that allows guest to mingle and chat while being artistic and creative. And it provides opportunity to have fun, have some great photos, and do something for the parents-to-be.
WHAT YOU NEED:
– mini canvasses or papers
– paint (different colors, preferrably pastel colors)
– different colored markers
– old newspapers
– decorative crafts (stickers, glitters, etc.)
HOW TO DO IT:
In this fun game, the guests will be decorating the nursery while having fun conversations. You may divide the guests into groups, and for each group assign a wall or corner/side of the nursery to decorate.
Put all the supplies on the table and in place them where everyone can easily access the materials. For easier cleanup after the party, put old newspapers under the paintings.
Ask each group to decorate their part of the nursery, use their imagination and creativity. They can draw shapes or figures and paint them or write inspiring quotes, and anything they think is great for the nursery.
Finally, remember that the activities and games you plan to do for the baby shower are not only for your guests to have fun. You must have fun too. Therefore, whatever you choose as games, do the ones that you yourself will have fun too, playing them.
