“Momma, come look…I fixed it for you! It’s all good now!” I really don’t know about you, but when I hear these words come out my 3-year-old’s lips, I fastidiously camouflage my wince as I “gleefully” respond, “No, Sweetie, what did you do this time?” Her answer: “I put some tape on the changing table for you!”
I did remember something looked off before. There was a piece of tape that went down the center of our Davinci Kalani changer and didn’t think too much of it. So, I questioned Sarah why she had decided to put a piece of tape on her baby brother’s changing table. Without missing a stride, Sarah proudly explained, “So he will stick to it and not come down off.” I loved to laugh, but I was scared of hurting her feelings. Rather, I passed Sarah a huge grin as I thanked my delightful little girl for her very thoughtful idea. I know better then punish my kids whenever they are just seeking to help out.
{As it settled in, I actually did become more glad, since I had of late complained about Baby Bruce’s continual wiggling during diaper changes. |I then recognized that the other day I was complaining about Baby Bruce was insistently squirming around while I was switching his diaper. I was then glad for what she had done.|I had become grateful once I recognized that Sarah had over detected me complaining about Baby Bruce flipping about whenever I went to switch his diaper.} There have also been a good deal of instances when Sarah has enquired for some help, and I’ve had to make her wait so I can “make sure Bruce doesn’t come down off the changing table.” On The Whole, I was very impressed by her problem-solving skills, and, as more slices of tape began appearing on the changing table over the succeeding couple of weeks, I expressed joy inside as I thanked my baby girl for helping Mommy.
I got a kick the other day whenever we had a play day with Sarah and my friend’s daughter, Sarah taught her about the tape on the Davinci crib and changer so she proceeded to put tape on my friend’s new Emily Davinci crib. Her baby girl caught on to what Sarah was doing during a play day and you know how it goes…Monkey See Monkey Do.
