Don’t your children just love the ritual of writing their Santa letters at Christmas time? Mine do! We set aside a day to write their Santa letters. The glitter, markers, Christmas stickers, and colored paper all come out when we’re ready to write the Santa letters. We put on the Christmas music to get in the Christmas spirit. My children thinks this makes for better Santa letters. The sugar cookies we eat helps us write better Santa letters too! I help my children decide what to say in their Santa letters. They ask questions like, “What do your reindeer eat?”, “Does Rudolph really have a nose that glows?”, and “What’s the North Pole like”? Then they decorate their Santa letter and sign their name. I’ve taught them how to address the letter to Santa Claus at the North Pole, and away it goes!

Now comes the hard part for children…the waiting. The children wait and wait, hoping their Santa letters get to Santa Claus. They hope they’re on Santa Claus good list, and above ALL, they hope they get Santa letters in return! This is where the stress comes in for parents. Who wants to mess with trying to write Santa letters to their children? Not me! I never know what to say or what to do to make the Santa letters look authentic. And, do you realize it’s impossible to find a postmark from the North Pole? No, I quit trying to write Santa letters to my children, because I found a much BETTER way to get my children their Santa letters!

Begin A Wonderful Christmas Tradition With Your Young Family

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, so remember to write your Santa letters and get them on their way to North Pole! While Santa has the ability to travel all around the world in a single night, those of us here must rely on the post office to get our Santa letters to the Jolly ‘Ol Elf! So enjoy this old time tradition that has brought such joy and anticipation to children everywhere.

It is a wonderfully fun tradition for children to write Santa letters to at Christmas time. They enjoy the anticipation of sending a personal letter to Santa Claus at the North Pole. They imagine Rudolph and the elves helping Santa with the chores there and look forward with eagerness to Santa Clauses reply.

There are children around the world who take a bit of a different approach to their letter writing. Some write their wishes down and then burn them in the fireplace, feeling the smoke will carry their wishes to the North Pole; others prefer to just shout their wishes up the chimney or in other places. Regardless of their approach, children around the world find joy and anticipation in this annual ritual.

To help make sure your Santa Letters arrive safely and quickly, Santa offers these tips to families as they write their letters. Children should ask their parents to help in addressing their Santa Letters, making sure the correct postage is on it for delivery, and a full return address is on the envelope. Next, no other packaging material is needed. While Rudolph and the other reindeer love hay and Santa and the elves enjoy cookies and candy canes, it’s best not to send them with your letter. They usually end up smashed and crumbled by the time they reach the North Pole. It would be best to leave these treats out on Christmas Eve. It works best if you hand these special letters right to your mail carrier. They will be handled with extra love as they are delivered to Santa Clauses house or the workshop at the North Pole.

As you work on your personalized Santa letters, parents & children can enjoy this experience even more with these ideas; children will naturally include their wish list in the letter, but to make it more special, parents can encourage a child to write why the holiday is so special to them. Once the letter is finished, it can then be taken to the post office or kept in a safe place for when the child is older and returned to them as a special memory. At this point, a parent can decide if they wish to respond to the Santa Letters their children have written. If doing so, along with reminding the child that Santa knows if they’ve been ‘good’ or ‘bad’, you might include a recent accomplishment of the child and then remind the child to be in bed by a certain time on Christmas eve. If a child is likely to recognize a parents handwriting, have someone else write it out for you, it will keep the magic of Christmas alive and make Santa Letters a special memory.
