Competitive Baby Shower Games

When hosting a baby shower, your goal is to make that moment memorable and special for the mom-to-be or the parents-to-be. To do so, the party has to be fun for everyone. But, the problem is that sometimes guest are not familiar or acquainted with one another. So, the very thing to do is break the ice to make them feel comfortable. When everyone is relaxed, only then can everyone really have fun.

How do you do that? Well, active baby shower games always work as far as experience could tell. They are so much fun to play and work well for all types of guests. Plus, these games doesn’t  require a lot of preparations, and are so easy to set-up.

Here are some ideas that you could choose from or use as inspiration for designing your own active baby shower games. Remember, for each of these games, players are required one (1) minute to finish the task. Well, well, well, here we go!

  1.   Feed the Baby

This is one of the most hilarious active baby shower games. You and your guests are in for loads of laughter, especially when the time runs out.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– jars of baby food (depends on the number of guests
– 2 baby spoons for each pair of players
– scarves or fabric to be used as blindfolds
– wet wipes and tissue

HOW TO DO IT:

This game will be played in pairs. Ask each guests to find a partner. It would be fun if they are paired with someone they are not acquainted with, or you could also pair couples (if you have couple guests). One pair plays after the other. So everyone watches while a pair is playing.

Give each player a jar of baby food. Both partners must be blindfolded. Check that their blindfolds are properly placed.  When the timer starts, they will feed each other baby food. The other pairs will also do the same. The pair that eats the most amount of baby food, wins.

You can measure the amount of baby food left in the jars of each to determine the winner. You can assign the parents-to-be to serve as the judge.

  2.   Pass the Pacifier

This game is a challenging one, but is as hilarious and fun as the “Feed the Baby Game.” You will surely have some great laughters too.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– plastic straws
– pacifier with a ring handle

HOW TO DO IT:

Divide your guests into groups of four or five. Depending on the number of guest you have, divide them equally. Should there be an excess, he or she can assist in facilitating the game.

Ask the group to stand in line. Provide each player a straw that they will put in their mouth, and one pacifier for each team. Both of their hands must be behind their backs the whole time. The first player will take hold of the pacifier. At the start of the timer, they will try to pass the pacifier down the entire line using their straws. Make sure that they don’t use their hands, except to pick up the pacifier if it falls.

Make sure that you use a pacifier with a ring handle, so that they can be passed on from one person to the next. Whichever team gets to complete the line or gets the farthest, wins.

  3.   Suck it Up!

This is another hilarious and challenging game to play. Maybe for guest who are parents themselves will find this very easy. Evenso, this is really fun to play.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– baby bottles ( same sizes)
– bulb syringe (for each group)
– mini marshmallows

HOW TO DO IT:

Divide the guests into teams of four or five, depending on the number of guests you have. Provide each team a syringe, baby bottle and equal piles of mini marshmallows.

Ask the team to line up behind the starting line. Set a table for each team not too far away from the line. In the table, place equal pile of mini marshmallow, 1 syringe and baby bottle with the lid opened. At the start of the timer, the first player of each team race to their assigned table, suck up a marshmallow using the syringe and drop it in their baby bottle. Then, the first player goes back to the team and tap the hand of the next player, does the same and so forth. At the end of the timer, the team with the most marshmallows in their baby bottle wins.

  4.   Match the Socks

This is another fun game that works well with any guest. It is a speed test, thus very challenging.

WHAT YOU NEED:

– several pairs of baby socks (different designs, colors…)

HOW TO DO IT:

You can gather several pairs of baby socks (you need not buy new ones) or you can ask some of your guests to bring some old pairs of baby socks.

Spread out the baby socks around the floor, in random. You have to make sure that the socks are not placed in pairs or not place near each  other.

Gather your guest in a circle, then set the timer. When the timer starts, they will have to find the matching pairs of baby socks. The player who gets the most pair of matching socks wins.

These games are really fun and challenging. They also provide opportunity for your guests to mingle, feel comfortable and get the fun going. As the host, you will surely have fun yourself too, seeing your guests become their goofy selves, and some might surprise with their competitive personality. It is also a good way to share laughters and make great photos.

It would also be fun to arrange some giveaways or tokens for winners.
